18 Jun 07 Geodesic Information Systems to issue Bonus Shares
Geodesic Information Systems has informed the stock exchanges that the board of Geodesic Information Systems has recommended an issue of bonus shares in the ratio of 1:2 (1 new bonus share for every 2 shares held). The bonus issue will be made to the shareholders of Geodesic Information Systems who appear in the the company’s register of shareholders as on the record date for the bonus issue. The record date will be announced in the coming days.

Can a company announce a past record date?
For example, consider that Company A has declared bonus on 1st Jun and has still not announced the record date. Can the company A today announce the record date as June 7th?
No it can’t. Record date will be announced atleast a week before the ex bonus date. Ex Bonus date will fall 1-3 days ahead of the record date.
