11 Dec 07 Indus Towers Limited may go for an IPO
Indus Towers Limited which is a new tower company formed by 3 leading Indian mobile phone operators, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular is likely to get listed in the Indian stock markets. Indus Towers IPO will help the company raise funds to increase the number of towers that the company owns from 50,000 to about 1.25 lakhs. Indus Towers Limited will be operational across 16 circles in India. These 16 circles account for over 80% of mobile phone revenue for Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular. It is unfortunate that BSNL and Reliance refused to join Indus Towers Limited. Forming a new tower company and sharing resources will help cellular operators reduce costs. This benefit will be passed on to the customers. More details about the Indus Towers IPO will be posted here soon.
