18 Apr 07 Praj Industries limited announces 1:1 bonus issue
Praj Industries Ltd has informed the Indian stock exchanges that the Board of Directors of Praj Industries Ltd in their meeting held on April 18, 2007 have recommended an issue of bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1 to the existing shareholders of  Praj Industries Ltd whose names appear on the register of shareholders or on the list of Depositories as beneficial owners at the end of business hours on the record date which would be fixed and announced at a later date, by the Board of directors. The bonus will be issued by capitalising the company’s free reserves.
Update : Praj Industries has fixed the record date for the bonus issue. The book closure date begins on July 20, 2007 and ends on July 25, 2007. Those shareholders holding the shares of Praj Industries on July 20, 2007 will be eligible for the Praj bonus issue.

When will the Praj industries will issue the bonus share. Before that, please tell me what is Bonus share ?? How it impacts the Share value, after share dividend. (If possible explain wiht an expample).

A bonus issue is the process of rewarding the shareholders with additional shares which are fully paid up. These new shares are funded by apitalising the free reserves. So the reserves are converted into capital (paid up). In a 1:1 bonus issue, the number of outstanding shares will double and hence the EPS will be halved. The book value per share will also be halved and hence the price of the shares will fall by 50% in a 1 : 1 bonus issue.
if i am holding futures in praj would i get bonus shares
@Ravi – No. Futures contract holder won’t get any corporate benefits like dividend, rights, bonus and so on. However an adjustment to the lot size will be made.
For Ex. if its a 1:1 bonus, the futures price will be halved and the lot size will be doubled

I have 200 praj shares bought for Rs400, and its trading around Rs220. Did they split the shares ?? or the share got corrected ??.
If they split, then i should suppose to get another 200 shares, with the current price, right ??
But in my demat account it shows, 200 shares with same price..(I mean Rs220). Did i lost around Rs 200, per share. plz reply. If that is the case, suggest what i have to do ?? sell or Buy..

@PRABHU – Don’t worry. Praj industries has gone ex bonus. You will receive 200 more shares. It will take some time for these shares to get credited to your demat acount.
I held 15 Praj shares which I held earlier.
Further I have bought 100 shares of Praj Ind today 19th July @ Rs. 230/- per share. As the record date is uptil 19th July end of trading session – what will be the number of stocks for me ex-split.

Hema – As per the company records, approx it takes 3-4 days for share ownership to change. So those who have bought the shares on 18th/19th july will not get bonus shares.

Please let me know that when we will receive those bonus share as I have 200 Praj share purchased for Rs 514/- per share.
As the price of this share are below half of the price I have bought, so we are suffering from severe financial loss. So please let me know the exact/approximate date of issuing the bonus share.
