08 Oct 07 Raj TV to launch New Tamil News Channel
Raj Television Network Limited, commonly known as Raj TV, has informed the stock exchanges that it has obtained the required approvals from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to launch a New Tamil News Channel. The new Tamil News Channel launched by RAJ TV will be a 24*7 news channel and will compete with SUN NEWS which is owned by the SUN TV group. The concept of having a dedicated news channel for Tamil News doesn’t look too exciting, when you consider that SUN News itself is not very popular and in terms of revenue doesn’t even come close to that generated by SUN TV and K TV, the other SUN TV group channels. With the RAJ TV group enjoying political favour in Tamilnadu, lets wait and watch how successful Raj TV’s News Channel becomes. RAJ TV’s shareholders are a happy lot, with the share prices of RAJ TV moving up rapidly after the announcement about the new 24*7 news channel launch was made.
