Reliance Power IPO Allotment chances are looking quite bleak. As of 10 PM today, which is the penultimate day of Reliance Power IPO Subscription, retail investors category in the Reliance Power IPO has already been subscribed over 9 times. The final subscription in the retail category is expected to cross 15 times. If it crosses 15 times, Reliance Power IPO Allotment will be done on a lottery basis for all categories of investors including the retail investors category.     it is in correct to say that the allotment chances are tough, in fact every one will get one lot and that is 15 shares.

    @rampal – Only those who applied for 15 lots will get 1 lot on a firm basis. Others will get 1 lot on a lottery basis.

    allotment of 15 shares to everyone is almost guaranteed because there are 68,400,000 shares for the retail category and there are 90 lakh demat accounts in this country (nsdl and cdsl). this means that even if every person holding a demat account in this country had applied in retail category they would still get 7.5 shares.in reality,fewer than fifty percent of account holders would have applied in retail category and therefore the chances of allotment of 15 shares are excellent.
    this formula of number of demat accounts vs number of shares for allotment can be applied to any ipo to determine chances of allotment.
