24 Apr 07 Sun TV Bonus Issue
Sun TV Network Limited has informed the Indian stock Exchanges that the Board of Directors of Sun TV in their meeting held on 24th April 2007 have recommended an issue of Bonus Shares in the ratio 1:1, which means one additional equity share for every one equity share held by the shareholders of SUN TV on the record date which will be announced by the SUN TV board. Sun TV will issue the bonus shares by capitalising its free reserves.

You are eligible for the bonus. You need to hold the shares till the record date to get the bonus shares. The record date will be announed soon. We will post the record date in this website as soon as it is announced by the SUN TV board. So, kindly bookmark this website and check regularly.

Hello Anuva, You are eligible for the bonus shares, provided you hold on to these shares till the record date for the bonus. You can sell it just a day before the ex bonus date. You are likely to get maximum price appreciation by selling on that day. If you want to wait to get the bonus shares, you may have to wait for 1 month or so, from the record date to get the bonus shares alloted and on the ex date the price of the sun tv share will fall by half, sometimes a little more than 50%

The reason stock prices rise after a bonus issue is announced
1) It indicates company is doing well
2) The liquidity increases (exactly why stock prices rise when a stock split is announced)

If you hold the shares of SUN TV after the record date theoretically you will neither make a profit nor a loss. The price will decrease and correct to the increase in the number of shares

I have 30 sun tv shares. IN the month of april sun tv board announces bonus. Still they didnt announce record date and at the same time share price getting low because of many reasons. Under this circumstances, is it possible for the company to withdrawn the bonus annoncement. Some of my friends telling like this. Is it possible to withdrawn bonus announcemnt after informing to stock exchange. kindly let me know the details regarding this issue.

@ sampath – It is not possible to withdraw or cancel the bonus issue. Bonus issue does not depend on rising or falling stock prices. It depends on amount of free reserves. SUN TV has a lot of free reserves.
@kokila – The record date for the SUNTV bonus issue has not yet been announced. As soon as the record date is announced it will be updated here.
@Rajesh – You can consider waiting till the record date for the bonus issue. However it depends on your risk profile.

Sun TV has credited Demat account only for Bonus shares. The split shares are yet to be credited.I have 60 shares and it incresed to 120.
If you trade the shares(120 shares) now, you can sell it at the current market rate at the doubled quantity.
The split share( another double quantity, 120 shares) will be credited to the account may be after sometime..and you can trade that quantity separately.
Please correct me if I am wrong. If I am right, can you tell me when the split shares will be credited to my account.
@Krishnakumar – Yes, you are right. The bonus shares have been credited and the split shares are yet to be credited.
@Anurag & Saifudeen – There has been both split and bonus and hence the price has corrected to the current levels. Check the face value of the shares in your demat account and get back to me.
Face value of the share = Rs 5/-
I had 50 shares in my account which increased to 100. (bcoz bonus share was credited).
